Fragrance Family: Floral or Rose Chypre (Some classify it as a Woody Floral)

This fragrance is inspired by the French cabaret, the mystical stage featuring theatrical parade of costumes. Cabaret is a metaphor for a spotlight scene, glitter and glamour, beauty and perfection. Following that rhythm, Michael Almairac made this fragrances life a cabaret! The opening has a rose, lily-of-the-valley and peony; followed by violet, blue orchid and incense, ending at the base of patchouli, oleander, Indian sandalwood, amber and musk. The designer of the bottle is Thierry Lecoule. It has been on the market since 2002.

Rose sachets in the cedar chest!
JODI B. (OMAHA, NE) 10/19/2009 7:51 AM
Cabaret is such a unique scent. It's a beautiful chypre/chypre floral (my favorite category at the moment) which conjures up the impression of old-fashioned rosepetal sachets stored in a cedar chest, with a wool sweater that has a trace of your favorite dusting powder on it. It's a very dry, slightly tart roses-and-incense aroma. Cabaret is a perfect antidote to the overdose of sweet fragrances that dominate today's marketplace. I can imagine this one on a teenage goth girl or her 40-something business woman mother. It's like someone took the straightforward rose scent of The Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose and mixed it with a nice woody incense such as 10 Corso Como. If Tea Rose is too "rosy" for you, and YSL Paris isn't interesting enough, Cabaret may strike the right balance. The Eau de Parfum (which is the only concentration I've ever found this in) lasts an entire workday.

Perfect woodsy floral
Cheryl Krueger (Richmond, VA) 8/8/2009 8:23 PM
Rose can be a tough flower to wear, but do not be afraid of this one.A haunting blend of wood and rose notes, suitable for any season. Not as big and soapy as Paris, not as all-rose, all-day as Nahema. One degree away from unisex, which is what makes Cabaret so wearable and timeless.
