Although selling fragrance is a business, creating fragrance is very much an art.
There are so many people who, once they have a taste for the vast riches the fragrance world holds,
become insatiable fragrance lovers.
The media has characterized it as something like those who are into buying expensive handbags or shoes…
but I think a better comparison is to wine and food enthusiasts.
Perfume enthusiasts are thrilled by the experience of exploring and learning about fragrances through wearing them
- a very sensual experience, like food and wine.
We are not perfume snobs or elitists.
. . .well, to the point that we don't believe all inexpensive fragrances are terrible. . .we know there are terrible expensive fragrances, too.
We don't take ourselves too seriously, either.
We just love fragrances and want to help people find scents that make them feel good.
We have created this store with that in mind
and plan on evolving to enhance our customers' fragrant inspiration.
Dea's story of how this all started:
I was in 8th grade, homeless at the time, living with various unsavory
people and trying to look normal at school. I was fascinated by the
way
that someone's scent could influence what
you thought of them, and sometimes be the only thing you remembered
about them.
With this in mind, I tried to find the "best" perfume so
that people would think highly of me. It took me weeks of studying the
fragrances
at our local department store to finally make my
decision and hand over my fistful of babysitting/survival money.
After being publicly embarrassed by the coolest girl in our school for
wearing Estee Lauder Youth Dew (she being so popular and
wearing
Vanderbilt), I was totally confused.
. . .and this was the start of my fascination with fragrance.
Today I am living the dream as owner of this store, mother of two
beautiful daughters and keeper
of two strange cats.
